Pricing

The Professional Fee is $1100 for 2 assemblies and 3 workshops (The most common day usually includes an assembly for K-2 and then 3-5/6 and workshops for the secondary age students by grade groups. Matott can handle any size workshop as long as teachers are present to handle any disruptions and/or discipline issues, though usually this is not a problem because the students are so involved.) Additional and workshops are $200 each. The day can be adjusted to suit your school's needs. Matott has done as many as 5 workshops in one day in addition to the 2 assemblies. $500 for 2 assemblies.

For schools outside of the Denver area, the minimum is $1100 (negotiated on an individual basis at times). Travel expense at $0.48 per mile driven.

For travel outside the Colorado area fees are negotiated (minimum $1100 per day) and will include lodging (hotel and meals, no school lunches please, after over 400 school lunches as an adult, Mr. Matott has finally begged for no more)! and travel expenses. Matott has visited out of state locations for a week at a time, seeing numerous schools and being involved in community meetings and events. This is a good for a school district to pool resources to pay for travel and lodging. Ongoing programs, fellowship and resident programs available; fees negotiable.

Books ordered by students and staff will be supplied on the day of Matott’s visit by him.

Books ordered prior and/or the day of the event at your request will also be provided directly from Matott (we will send you a book order form upon booking), so you don't have to spend time working between the publishers and distributors to bring in the books or returns either.

- Poetry (Using There's A Fly On My Toast! Matott shows students the wonder of constructing poetry from everyday experiences. ORGANIZE! BRAINERCIZE! MAKE IT WISE!)

- Making SENSE of your writing (Utilizing the five senses, Matott show students how to bring the reader in to experience a story, not just read it.)

- Grandparent unit (An author in residency favorite. This unit will not only show a student the value of good research, but will enrich the student's sense of place within their family. Also used with "adoptive grandparents" from nearby retirement communities.)

- Creative Non-fiction unit (Matott shows how through unique points of view and other techniques a non-fiction based story can come alive!)

- Picture book unit (Utilized in Matott's standard Creative Writing Worship, this fun and imaginative unit is a student's favorite. Within 45 minutes the entire classroom forms the beginning of a fun picture book. Matott writes a rhyming prompt, which the students then complete in their classrooms.)
